The Trial Run [SOWLE Journeys of Faith]

SOWLE Journeys of Faith

In our article 5 Essential Steps of Planning for an RV Camping Trip, our #1 step is The Trial Run. When you purchase an RV, whether it is new or used, it’s always a good idea to take it out for a trial run before planning your first big trip. That is what this is all about, the Trial Run and how it is a MUST!

The Trial Run

As I mentioned before, you can read all about The Trial Run in our article “5 Essential Steps of Planning an Epic RV Camping Trip“. We share all the steps of a Trial Run and what to do including what it is, who needs to do one, the best time for a trial run, why it is needed, where to do it, and the 10 most important things to consider before and after the trial run!

Why a Trial Run is a MUST

There are many things that can go wrong with an RV. It may be as simple as a few little things but why take the chance of ruining a well-planned trip with minor problems that could be eliminated?

Believe me when I say that it can happen and DID happen to us with a brand-new RV.

We know not to trust that everything will go as planned! That’s why we had to take a trial run with our newly remodeled and renovated Motor Home.

The renovations are done. We decided to take it out for a Trial Run.

Our First Trial Run

Our first trial run trip in the motor home was not too bad. We decided to stay as close to home as we could and since the lake we always go to is closed because of major flooding, we went about 45 minutes away.

Thankfully we only had a few problems with the Motor Home on this trip.

Problems On Our First Trail Run in the Motorhome

Cold Shower

The main problem was the hot water heater didn’t work but for maybe 30 seconds, so VERY ice-cold showers! Thankfully it was an easy fix and we were back to warmth in no time. THAT was a SOWLE Journey of Faith because normally our “fixes” take hours or days!

2nd Vehicle

However, we found out that not having an additional vehicle to make a quick run to the store was not going to be a fun part of having a Motor Home. From now on, for trips closer to home, we will be bringing a 2nd vehicle.

Next Trip

After fixing the water heater, we decided to try another trip a little further away. This time the trip would take 1 hour to get to our destination.

In Conclusion to SOWLE RV JOURNEYS: The Trial Run [SOWLE Journeys of Faith]

We hope you check out How to do a Trial Run in an RV if you are looking for ways to hopefully prevent problems on your first “official RV Camping Trip”. We mentioned above that our next camping trip should have only taken 1 hour to get to the location… Nope. It ended up taking 6 and a half hours! That story is coming up next, so be sure to Join the SOWLE RV Community so you don’t miss it!

Everybody Has a Story to Tell

Everyone has had that moment (or more) where they knew something that happened was destined to happen. The blessing that occurred at just the right moment (even if maybe it wasn’t exactly what you had been praying for). It was just supposed to be THIS WAY moment. It felt right. We love hearing peoples stories about those divine moments when something happened and you just knew it was supposed to. We would love to hear YOUR story! We plan to add a section on our website for YOUR stories! If you would like to share your story and be considered for having it added to our site, send us a message below and we will get in contact with you.
