SOWLE Journeys of Faith
You all know how I love music and especially lyrics. I’m going to use an example here of how good it was to get away from our house after a rough week of “medical crap” going on with us. Which is why this part of the SOWLE RV Journeys is titled “The Simply Imperative Trip”!
The Song: Good Vibes by Chris Janson
The Important Lyrics:
“I ain’t watchin’ TV today
Bad news, it can just stay away
If you ain’t got anything good to say
Then shut your mouth.”
And
“I ain’t tryna hear the negative, I’m just tryna change the narrative.
It’s simply imperative, That we all have a damn good time.”
And the chorus:
“I’m gettin’ them good vibes, I’m livin’ this good life, I’m breathin’ on God’s time, And I ain’t gonna waste one breath.
I’m soakin’ it all up, I got me a full cup.
And there ain’t nothin’ gonna spill it, Nothin’ gonna kill it, Wavin’ them worries goodbye.
I’m feelin’ them good vibes.”
So needless to say, on this trip, it was Simply Imperative that we all have a good time! Fall had arrived and snow was predicted in the upcoming week!
The Weather
When we went online to book our campsite for this trip a week and half before, the weather apps said there would be a high of 65° and a low of 42°for Saturday and Sunday and all weekend, mostly sunny!
We had a cold front coming in with tons of wind early in the week but the apps still kept reading 65° for the upcoming weekend. By Tuesday of the week leading up to this trip, the apps changed and said that the highs would be at the highest 58° (Sunday) and a low of 36° (Friday night), still mostly sunny.
What we ended up with was a weekend with highs in the lower 60’s and a low of 40°. So thankfully we didn’t have to worry about pipes freezing on this Simply Imperative trip!
Not Only a Change in the Weather
There was not only a change in the weather since our last trip! It’s different to camp in cooler weather and it’s even stranger to see people in coats and boots when normally we are all in shorts, short-sleeves, and flip flops!
There was also an entirely different crowd and different RV’s than we normally see. Of course, no one recognizes us in the motorhome since we are normally in our Travel Trailer at this campground. I did find it interesting that there is an entirely different group of people who go RV Camping in the Fall than in the spring and summer months.
Packing for this Weekend Warrior Trip
Needless to say, we were not prepared for this trip for sure. We were rushed all week trying to get packed and ready to hit the road, but right up until Friday morning, we still weren’t even sure we were going to go. Like I said before, it was a rough week with medical stuff going on. Eventually it all ended up fine and much better than expected. Oh, the stresses of being a parent and a wife. There’s always someone to worry about.
However, I have to keep reminding myself that it does absolutely no good to worry about anything, but to pray, now that does something productive! That is part of our SOWLE Journeys of Faith we mention often and definitely in this Simply Imperative Trip!
The Drive to the Campground
Oddly, I was not anxious at all about the drive to the campground. Normally, I would be anxious about riding in the motorhome as I’m still not used to it yet. However, this was a nice calm and relaxing drive even in the dark for most of the trip since we got a late start. We cranked up the music and enjoyed the ride!
The 1st Night
The 1st night of this simply imperative trip was a rough one though. I thought I had packed enough ‘extras’ of just about everything. However, when we have “puppy issues” ON OUR BED the first night before we even got to lay down, I was nervous that 2 sets of sheets and 2 heavy blankets may not be enough but so thankful I had packed them! It’s important for me to mention this was one of the “older” puppies not the new ones.
We think they’re retaliating against us for bringing the 2 new Tinies as this is the new puppies’ first trip in the motorhome. I’m already missing my washing machine and dryer from the Travel Trailer! There is no extra room for that in this motorhome though!
We also felt very unorganized, and my OCD was really kickin’! I just can’t seem to relax until things have some order to them. The Motorhome was in chaos, and we just didn’t have a good setup at all. We know from RV Camping in our Travel Trailer all summer that once we get that “even flow” of things, it works much better, so we decided to change things around a bit.
Once we changed everything about how we were arranged in the RV, including our sleeping arrangements, it worked AWESOME and we all were asleep by 11:30PM! Until…
The 2nd Night
At 1:30am on the 2nd night of our trip, I heard a loud “boom” or “crash” sound. I thought one of the dogs jumped on something and then fell and knocked over the wooden gate in the living room. I got up to check on them and then heard water running.
Half awake, I thought “gosh Mark is really using a lot of water to flush that toilet”! Then I see the bathroom door is wide open and I hear water rushing and there’s no one in the bathroom!!!
Water is flowing from behind the toilet at a full flow and the floor was quickly filling with flooding water!
On the toilet there is a water line that runs from the valve at the top of the toilet down to the waterline to where it comes into the RV. The hose connector on that line came apart.
Apparently when Mark extended the waterline on the new toilet, the clamp that held it wasn’t tightened enough.
An honest mistake and thankfully an easy cleanup!
We were SO THANKFUL that our GG wasn’t using the motorhome when this happened!
Conclusion of The Simply Imperative Trip [SOWLE Journeys of Faith]
It was a nice trip overall, it really was! We had a rough week and needed a break from reality. That made this trip simply imperative and we got that. It’s just hard to shut your mind off even while camping. I blame the colder weather!!!
