With all the craziness in the world right now (in addition to the “normal craziness”) we thought it would be a great time for all of us to reset and get a grip on the spoken and unspoken rules of RV Camping. This includes, RV Camping in Campgrounds, Parks, Resorts, and in some cases even boondocking. Instead of telling you what to do, from experience in the crazy things we have seen, we are going to share our ideas of what NOT to do while RV Camping. Some are funny, some are serious, and some will have you seriously questioning where we came up with the idea in the first place. We are just saying that these are things that we have seen or heard ourselves, or things that other families have shared with us that they have seen or heard. Some are quite mind blowing and many are just plain disgusting! No matter what you read, these are things happening in the world that you just simply must know before going RV Camping! Proper Formalities to Follow When RV Camping in a Campground & What NOT To Do While RV Camping!

1. LIGHTING

Don’t point flashlights into campsites when walking or running at night; especially don’t shine it in other people’s faces as their sitting in their campsite.

Don’t shine your headlights into someone’s RV when leaving before 6 am. The windows are tinted in most RV’s, yes, however they do allow some light in and headlights shinning directly at an RV WILL come in for sure!

As much as we all love decorating our campsites with lights and fun decor, please remember to turn them off at night if they are bright lights. Having some light on your campsite is fine and safe, however, we don’t need so many bright lights that pilots wonder if it’s a landing strip!

2. NOISE

Don’t keep RV neighbors up with loud noises or running around the campground past midnight alerting dogs and their owners.

Don’t allow teenage kids to be playing around on empty campsites late at night.

Quiet hours are listed for a reason-follow them.

While most people are camping for fun others do still have to work and may live there.

While watching TV outside pay attention to your volume (this goes for music as well). You may very well be enjoying your show or music, however, many RVer’s are at the campsite to enjoy nature and get away from the everyday life.

Don’t stand outside someone’s RV and carry on a very loud conversation.

3. RESPECT CAMPSITES

Don’t setup a game on someone else’s campsite. You paid for your campsite and they paid for theirs. Stay on your own site.

Please don’t walk through other people’s campsite and make sure your children know not to as well.

DO leave space between RVs as much as possible. Some campgrounds have their campsites setup on pretty tight spaces but do your best to keep your RV and amenities on your site.

4. FIRES

Please don’t put out a fire or try to start it up again in irresponsible ways! Smoking out the entire campground with grey and white smoke is not going to make your neighbors happy with you.

5. PETS

Please don’t let your dog(s) run free and come up to people late at night barking hysterically or on someone else’s campsite.

By the way, PLEASE pick up after your pet!

6. BATHROOMS

Don’t be a grown man or woman who goes and urinates in a bush where people can see you in broad daylight!

Let’s just go a step further and say if you’re in a public campground, find a restroom and use it!

7. TRASH

Don’t leave trash in the fire pit. It’s not a trash can!

Keep your campsite picked up and clean.

8. ROADS

If there are signs that say “one way” only go that one-way. Also, pay attention to the speed limit if posted. There are children camping.

9. DUMPING

Dump stations are there for a reason. If you’re not on a full utilities site, don’t use it as such.

And for the love of all that’s great-DO NOT EVER CLEAN YOUR BLACK WATER HOSE by attaching it to fresh water spicket at the campsite or dump station!!!!

For the rest of us that already know this, now we must carry bleach with us to clean the spicket because it has been done!!!

10.  COOKING

Don’t cook food on your BBQ Grill that smells up the entire campground with the best smelling food possible and then not share

OK, that last one was obviously a joke, but honestly, if you’re cooking up some seriously awesome smelling grub, don’t be surprised if I show up and ask you for the recipe!
